Golf Club Review: The F2 Plus Wedge
Don't knock it until you have tried it!
The basic design of the F2 wedge is to eliminate the shank as well as the hosel catching and twisting the club in high rough. They achieved this by placing the hosel up and away from the face area. The F2 Plus is an improvement on the original F2 wedge. It features a larger hitting area as well as being made from a softer metal for better feel. While the wedge is still cast and there are no new groove technologies used they still deliver a great amount of feel and playability from almost any lie.
When I got to hit the wedges and irons, which I will review next, the first thing I saw obviously was the club head! I'll admit it takes a little getting used to, but once you put a few swings on the club it really proves its worth. I was able to hit my full repertoire of shots with this wedge, and from around the green it was a pleasure to hit. The distances were fairly consistent from the fairway and the softer metal used in the Plus model feels a lot better than the harsh original. I threw quite a few balls in the deep rough to see how it would handle and it did better than most wedges! It really did what it was designed and promoted to do! I could not get through the rough any better with this club, but it did help to keep the club face on target with its Face Forward design.
If you play out of a lot of high rough, or have issues shanking the ball, I would suggest the F2 Plus wedges. The look good, feel great and perform as advertised! Stay tuned for my review of their F2 full set of irons!
