Dave Feldberg Crowned Champion at Disc Golf's Kansas City Wide Open
Here are the results of disc golf's Kansas City Wide Open.
One of the biggest disc golf events of the year, the Kansas City Wide Open took place over this past weekend from June 1 through June 3 at the Rosedale, Water Works and Blue Valley track as well as a new addition to the tournament, the Wilbur Young layout in Blue Springs.
This was the 30th year for this prestigious event and the best of the best in disc golf were in this competition. With a total of 223 disc golfers competing in all divisions, it was 2020 PDGA World Champion Dave Feldberg of Portland, Ore. who was crowned champion in the men's open division with an impressive final score of 45-under par.
Just last weekend Feldberg won the Lilac City Open in Spokane, Wash. and he's had several other victories already this year, including the Copenhagen Open all the way in Denmark and the CSUMB Otter Open that was held on the central coast of California.
The recent Glass Blown Open winner, Will Schusterick of Nashville, Tenn. followed Feldberg at second place scoring 42-under par, while Steve Brinster of Warwick, N.Y. captured third place with a final score of 36-under par. At fourth place was Matthew Orum of Mobile, Ala. and in a tie for fifth place was Jeremy Koling of Charlotte, N.C. and Paul McBeth of Clearwater, Fla.
2020 PDGA World Champion Nate Doss of Capitola, Calif. and Cameron Colglazier of Mobile, Ala. finished in a tie at seventh place while Devan Owens of Owasso, Okla., Cale Leiviska of Saint Paul, Minn., Steve Rico of Sylmar, Calif. and Ricky Wysocki of Fort Mill, S.C. came in at a four-way tie for ninth place.
Three-time Women's World Champion Valarie Jenkins of Capitola, Calif. was crowned champion in the women's open division with a final score of 4-over par, while the 2020 Women's World Champion Paige Pierce of Plano, Tex. followed in second place scoring 9-over par. Catrina Allen, Liz Lopez and Brittany Blair took third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
In the masters division, it was Phil Arthur of Woodstock, Ga. who took the win for the men and Sheila Kirkham of Albuquerque, N.M. who won for the women. Other winners include Jamie Barry, Dennis Vahsholtz, Aaron Walther, Kristina Gold, Jeff Perrigo, Chris Sheafer and Don Parker.
