They work too much, don't spend time with them, or maybe they don't have a father for whatever reason. But for those who have a semi-good relationship to a good relationship with their fathers have the comfort of knowing that they can sit down with their fathers and have a decent conversation. One that is well-rounded. The father can listen a=to his child with knowledge of past conversations. Plus, they would know what the child expects and what they are looking for especially when it comes to gifts and dire needs.

How many times have you heard the phrase, "Wait until you have kids?" It's true, you can never understand the trouble your parents go through to raise even one child. Even if you do have to live with them and they have to provide and parent outside the home. As we grow up we may not look at what it takes to be a parent. A kid costs $6,000 a year if not more, not including medical and child care. Then theres parenting. To raise a child effectively enough so that the child can survive on their own one day. When we (the children) give them grief for all the wrong reasons, we later learn as parents (or not) the purpose of why out parents were so tough on us. Then again sometimes, it's the child that gives the parents pointers on parenting. And that can be the roughest times of all. I now speak this from experience. I have two kids.

I'd like to give my deceased grandfather, Alma, as an example for this one. My family has many secrets. Whose doesn't? But ours are still under investigation. One in particular, O wont say what, made my grandfather teach us that handwork was a key to living. He'd get up early everyday and run a small farm with my dad, uncle, and aunt , and grandmother. despite out families secrets, I don't think he wanted it to tube our legacy to be bound by this particular one. Grandfather built the family cabin with his own hands. He was a veteran of war and though with limited education he taught my fathers, who taught me and my brother, more than just academics. He taught us that hard work for living and what you wanted was essential. But also not to be vain or greedy. His example still lives with me. What has a male figure in your family taught you that is of life long knowledge and legacy?

Your father may have made horrible decisions. he may have an agonizing job or be mentally challenged. But how you saw him and the relationship you had with him is what counts. Did he still try to be a good person in your eyes? Maybe he wasn't your father because your biological one died or left years ago. Still, he took it upon himself to be the father you never knew.
