Can a Migraine Cause Attention Deficit Disorder and Bad Dreams?

Washed and dried toilet paper lumps, wolves killing cartoon characters, sex changes and broken glasses: All thanks to my migraine.

Who knows what caused my migraine headache on this particular Thursday but it sidelined me quite well after I finished my Wii fit workout. Perhaps it was the weather or the two or three inches of snow. Whatever the reason, I decided to throw a load of laundry into my washing machine then take a nap in the quiet darkness of my bedroom.

During my nap, I found myself experiencing especially detailed and intense dreams. I normally dream vividly and often feel as though I have spent sleeping time watching movies in my head. This particular migraine-induced nap had me dreaming that I was napping. In my dream napping, I awoke to confusion and the fear that I had suddenly become a guy (in real life I'm not a guy).

In my dream I realized that I was still a chick but then my eyeglasses broke, which meant I wouldn't be able to see unless I found my contact lenses. While I was wandering around nearsighted in a yard that was not my own (I had no clue whose house I was in or how I got there) a pack of wolves began to chase me.

I noticed as I ran from these animals that they had killed the beloved cartoon dog Scooby-Doo on the lawn. I was devastated as I ran and made it into the house, which was not my home. Since I didn't have my contact lenses and my glasses were broken, I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

I awoke - really, in real life - to discover that the migraine headache had let up a bit. I stumbled (as I normally do after a nap) into the utility room to check on the laundry. My daughter had moved the laundry I had thrown in earlier from the washer into the dryer.

I opened the dryer to discover a large, white lump waiting for me. Apparently, in my migraine-induced attention deficit haze I had picked up dirty towels AND a roll of toilet paper. The roll of toilet paper had went through the washer and the dryer and was now a large, white lump of matted cottony paper.

Is there a correlation between migraine headaches, Attention Deficit Disorder and bad dreams? My money says yes - but that's really just an excuse. On a normal day, without the migraine, all of these things could and would happen to me anyway.

So who knows? I'll blame the migraine anyway.
