Murphy's Driving Range and Mini Golf
While Murphy's isn't the most beautiful course in the area it offers a lot of fun and some real challenges. Local history and landmarks are incorporated into the course. You'll have to make your way through a racing starting gate and meander through Yaddo Gardens. I think my kids like it because some of the holes are a bit over the top when it comes to actually getting to the hole. Kids favorite is the one where almost everyone has to yell four, you really need to give the ball a good whack to get it up to the hole and catching some air is most desirable. I like it because you can get the kids a can of soda but that's it (you won't break the bank at the snack bar) and the driving range is next door. This is where we go most often, it's close, we can play and leave, rarely have to wait and lots of fun.

Pirates Cove Queensbury
Pirates Cove in Queensbury is quite a mini golf experience. Each hole is crafted into an adventure proving interesting and somewhat challenging. Unlike Murphy's the greens are meticulous, great place for real golfers to play and practice their putting. Play a hole on a pirate ship, travel through waterways and waterfalls and watch out for those pirates, they're lurking everywhere. If you're looking to be challenged with tubes, spirals or pinball like holes you won't find it. Here you are most often challenged by slopes bumps and turns. I think what I like best about Pirates Cove is the beautiful landscaping, the greens are perfect and the adventure keeps kids looking forward to the next hole. They offer some trinkets at the end and basic snacks and drinks.

What a great place! Bring your wallet though, with so much to offer you'll be dropping money here and there and it will add up. If you're looking for a fun filled day of golf you can find something for everyone. The mini golf course is right on par. Great greens, nicely landscaped and some fun challenges. As the kids get older Players Park offers the ultimate mini golf. They have a very simple par 3 (you can see the snack bar from every hole), great introduction to real golf and I love it because it's great practice for my short game (bring lots of balls, you will lose some). They have an ice cream parlor with a big porch overlooking the par 3 course, full snack bar and inflatables. Great fun when you are looking to fill an afternoon.
