Review of the Cleveland 900 Form Forged Wedge: A Great Golf Club for Under $100
Cleveland golf continues to inspire with this great line of new gun metal wedges that work as good as they look.
When I first tried out the Cleveland 900 form forged wedge I was impressed by the fact that it seems to have the ability to get under the ball without sculling very often. The Cleveland 900 form forged wedge has an extremely low center of gravity due to the dropped back weight on the bottom of the wedge. Another nice thing about the Cleveland 900 form forged wedges that it is available in two models, one is your standard model that will give you a more traditional feel. The second is their new low bounce models that are made to give you the best lift and balance combination for all course conditions. What this means is that you are able to attack the ball a little bit harder without having it fly out of control. This can be very good when approaching a fast screen as you are able to put more backspin on the ball without having it travel any further of a distance.
Upon our testing the Cleveland 900 form forged wedge showed that it was able to create a tremendous amount of backspin on the ball and with a little bit of practice we were actually able to get balls to backspin on the green. This is one of the first wedges that I've tried that I've been able to do this with and I am excited about adding it to my bag for that reason alone.
The Cleveland 900 form forged wedge is available in several different lofts. The 52° loft is available in the standard balance only however the 54 and 56° as well as a new 60° wedge is available in both the traditional and the new low bounce models. At the time of writing this the Cleveland 900 form forged wedge was only available in men's right-hand, however left and models are likely to appear within the coming months.
If you take your game of golf seriously than the hundred and $20 that they are asking for a Cleveland 900 form forged wedges more than realistic. While I would not call it cheap I would say that it is a good value for the money. The Cleveland 900 form forged wedge that I used had been custom gripped with a Winn grip that was perfect for using in wet conditions however the standard grip that comes with this wedge is more than adequate. All in all I would say that the Cleveland 900 form ford wedge is a good value for the money.
