Being John Daly "Home Away from Home" Episode Premiered on the Golf Channel
The troubled golfer is trying to make his way back to being a player that's a force to be reckoned with.
The Being John Daly "Home Away from Home" Episode on The Golf Channel Showed Just How Popular the Golfer Is
This latest episode saw the golfer coming home from a Puerto Rico tournament on a private jet, which he really appreciated and misses. During a St. Patrick's Day spring training game between the New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies, John Daly got to throw out the first pitch, and got an autographed ball from Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt.
Being John Daly discussed how the golfer had gone through 6 different caddies in just 11 months time, but it appears that he'll have a longer term relationship with Number 7, David Rawls, who he appeared with during a golfer-caddie version of The Newlywed Game. The duo did well on that spectacle. Next, the golfer went to his office of Blue Collar Golf (he's a 33 per cent owner) for a spell before doing a signing in Clearwater at the original Hooters, which was well-attended.
Then in Tampa, Daly made his third straight cut at a tournament amidst much fanfare and people wearing the "colorful" clothes from the golfer's Loudmouth line. This made the 1991 PGA Championship winner feel really good, even though his tie for 55th was a bit disappointing. Still, the tournament ended with the golfer saying on Being John Daly that he birdied three of his last four holes.
Being John Daly on The Golf Channel Profiles the Golfer in an Engaging Way
The show ended with John Daly reflecting on his career while he was cutting grass, one of his favorite activities. He's looking forward to going back to St. Andrews later this year, where he won The British Open 15 years ago.
What I like about the program is that it's got a down to earth feel about it. I've watched several of the episodes of Being John Daly, and I find it interesting because I like seeing profiles of athletes even though I'm not that crazy about golf. Though some scenes of Daly putting or driving at various golf courses can be quite impacting. Another thing that helps drive this half-hour program on The Golf Channel is the 1960s-1970s style of sports narration, which is laced with lots of philosophy about life.
The man is really into his music, living out of his mega bus, and golf itself. It's easy to see why so many people root for an athlete who's had more than his share of personal problems. He's quite the "people person."
