Five Most Anticipated Virtual Console Games

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, one of the most wanted titles, was finally released on the Virtual Console. This gives new hope to fans of classic games that may be released on the downloadable store of the Nintendo Wii in the future.

Earthbound (Super NES)
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: HAL Laboratory, Original Release Date: 1995, ESRB Rating: K-A
One of the few Nintendo published role-playing games, Earthbound is a classic. The game takes place in a modern day setting (like the Pokémon series) and has a lot of charm. Earthbound's gameplay, while simple and traditional, is purely entertaining. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn't really see much in the fan favorite franchise as Earthbound (also known as Mother 2) remains the only game to make it to American shores.

Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber (Nintendo 64)
Publisher: Atlus, Developer: Quest, Original Release Date: 2000, ESRB Rating: T
Speaking of role-playing games, the Nintendo 64 has only a handful of them. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber is probably the best on the system. Featuring a deep class system and classic strategic warfare, it is one of the more underappreciated Nintendo 64 titles. A proper Virtual Console release will give Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber the attention it deserves.

Secret of Mana (Super NES)
Publisher: Square Soft, Developer: Square Soft, Original Release Date: 1993, ESRB Rating: NA
Another anticipated role-playing game on the Virtual Console is Secret of Mana. What separate the game from others is the inventive menu system and the support for up to three-player co-operative play. While you have to buy an adapter to play with two other friends on the Super NES version, the Nintendo Wii supports up to four players right out of the box. That reason alone makes Secret of Mana one of the most anticipated Virtual Console titles.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Super NES)
Publisher: Konami, Developer: Nintendo, Original Release Date: 1992, ESRB Rating: NA
Video games based on licensed products are historically bad. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time is the exception to the rule. This beat-em-up not only faithfully recreated the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, it is also a blast to play especially with two-players (or four-players in the arcade version). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time is as about as good as it gets for beat-em-ups on the Virtual Console.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64)
Publisher: Nintendo, Developer: Nintendo, Original Release Date: 2000, ESRB Rating: E
The Legend of Zelda franchise is home to some of the most popular video games. One title is severely overlooked, however. Majora's Mask was released when the Nintendo 64 was on its last legs. Thus, it lacks the popularity of other games in the franchise. This is kind of ironic since Majora's Mask may also be the best Legend of Zelda game thanks to the unique application of masks and innovative time traveling elements. The Virtual Console wouldn't be complete without The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask.
