Opinion regarding the media frenzy around the world's greatest golfer.
Regarding Tiger and his mistresses, we all know that if he had not been such a top star America wouldn't give a hill of beans about his indiscretions. We all should be aware that Tiger did not bring this all upon himself, even though he was most responsible, he did have help. I do not remember one time where Tiger Woods proclaimed himself as the Lord of Golf. If memory serves, someone else gave him that title. All he did was play golf better than the others and won. It's just that simple. I would like to see someone hold these ladies responsible for knowingly getting involved with a married man and have them confess to their reasoning.
As for the sponsors, I don't think that Tiger approached them. I could be wrong but I believe that they approached him because they could see dollar signs. They wanted to be associated with him because he could make them big money and as Aretha Franklin said "Who's zooming who"? Now that he is of no use to them, they slink away and hide in the bushes waiting on another star to whom they can hitch their wagons and these are the kind of brands that we need to listen to. It's going to be quite interesting to see if these brands attempt to re-attach themselves to him when he comes back stronger than ever. Heck, if nothing else, his departure from golf gives all of the others a chance to run up their total wins.
Now the media speaks about Tiger's low polling numbers as if he was running for political office or something. Just like many of his sponsors, people will begin to love him again when he begins to win again. People are sometimes more finicky that cats and we love a winner. Tiger lost this round but it's a long 18 holes and he has been known to come back with amazing ferocity. I mean look at this recent report attempting to connect Tiger to performance enhancing drugs because there is no real way that he could win like he did without them right? To say that Tiger Woods made a very big mistake would be an understatement but piling on while a person is down is in itself another big mistake but I guess it's something that we do better than anyone else eh?
