LPGA's Popularity Increasing
The LPGA is surprising many of us longtime golf viewers with an increase in viewership and fan support. What could be some of the main reasons for this sudden growing interest in the women's golf league?
Increased Viewership of 2020
Recently, three more tournaments have been added to the international LPGA golf competition list in the United States. There are now a total of 27 tournaments worldwide. It's been said that the LPGA tournaments have received a 38 percent increase in viewership for the 2020 season. To me, this indicates that the LPGA is beginning to gain more interest and as such, will continue to grow. My prediction is that the 2020 season for the professional women's golf league will move forward with a much bigger audience than it has ever known before.
International Fans
The LPGA women's golf league has a large following in Japan. The reason for this is most likely due to the fact that Japan has some of the most popular Japanese players in the league right now, including Ai Miyazato, Momoku Ueda and Mika Miyazato. Successfully adding another award to her name this past December was Ai Miyazato who came out as the much-loved and respected winner of the Ladies European Tour money list award. I believe her hard work and dedication has left an impression on many of her people, attributing not merely to the typical idol's success but to an idol's cultural success as well. Many fans respect her and future LPGA prospects admire her.
LPGA V.S. PGA Poll
In a poll conducted by the Bad Golf Blog in November 2020, it was discovered that the Lady's Professional Golf Association had precedence over the Professional Golfers Association. Contrary to most sports in the United States, it is extremely rare for a women's professional athletic team (such as football, basketball, etc.) to even come close to competing with men's sports teams. It seems that golf is one of the few exceptions to this common belief and well, I must say that I'm liking this newly taken interest regarding women athletics throughout the United States today.
Based on my recent speculations as a long time golf viewer, I have high hopes for the growing interest and success of the aspiring women to compete in the LPGA competition for the 2020 golf season this year.
