My husband and I love to play golf, and average about two games a week. Where we play there are obviously a lot of trees and grass, and it's also more on the windy side. I have seasonal allergies that I keep somewhat in check, but the wind always makes my eyes water and tear up. My eye doctor gave me eye drops for this, and said some people just have sensitive eyes. Well, he liked his pair so much that a week later I was at WalMart and purchased a smaller pair for myself as well.
These Solar Shield Fits Over Sunglasses have "Polar AB Lenses" to block the glare of the sun. A hang tag that came with my sunglasses reads Lenses meet strictest UV blocking requirements. Another vinyl label attached to the lenses, which was easily removed without any residual stickiness, says that they are polarized and block 100% of UV rays.
The hang tag led me to the website, which further explains about the UV protection these sunglasses offer. It states that these Polar AB lenses actually protect from both UVA and UVB light. These sunglasses "completely isolate the eyes from UV light", because they have a patented 360 degree design that "encloses the eyes within a cocoon of comfort and style, protecting from not only direct, but indirect and reflected light from top, bottom and pheripherally.
The Solar Shield sunglasses come in small, medium and large sizes, and are available in a few different styles. The lenses can be purchased in either an amber or gray color. I tried both of them on, and felt that the gray lenses offered the most realistic colors, and that is what I purchased, in a size small. The website says that the gray is the best color to choose for outdoor activities, while the amber is good for driving as it helps with depth perception and contrast. These Solar Shield Sunglasses retailed for $19.00, which is a great price for the quality!
Small sizes will fit over glasses up to 4 7/8" by 1 1/2". Medium fits over Rx glasses up to 5 1/16" by 1 1/2". The next size is medium/large, then there are large and extra large, which fit over 5 5/8" by 2". So there is something for everyone!
As it turned out, my husband and I played a round of golf the very day I purchased them. It was a very sunny day, and the golf course was extremely full, taking us 3 1/2 hours to play nine holes, but during that entire time, my eyes did NOT water or tear up on my even once! The results were amazing! I believe because these fit so nicely over my eyeglasses, and they wrap around the sides as well, there is no wind or sun coming through them at all.
