Wilson Staff Pi7 Iron Review
Solid club for the better player.
How do you get a British Open winner to change irons? Make something better than he is using now!
The Wilson Staff Pi7 irons are just the iron! They are a very good update to the very popular Fi5 irons used to win the 2020 British Open Championship. They feature a very clean, compact head with a constant offset and thin top line all preferred by the better player. The thing that sets this club apart from all others is that they are very forgiving as well! Their cavity, while smaller than Wilson's game improvement irons, sets the center of gravity a little deeper and lower on the club head than most other "players cavity back irons". This makes for a very forgiving club head on off center hits while still maintaining a penetrating ball flight the better player likes. They are also slightly larger than the Fi5 irons for even more forgiveness!
I was very impressed with this set from the moment I set them down. They look great, feel better and the ball goes where I tell it to with these clubs! I really enjoyed the thin top line and minimal offset after testing clubs designed for the mid to high handicap player and working the ball with this set was even more enjoyable! They were very easy for me to fade, draw, hit high and hit low. There was not a shot that I could pull off with this set. The feel of the irons is very solid as well. Wilson uses the True Temper Dynamic Gold shaft in the Pi7's for a stable and consistent ball flight. After spending a half bucket with this iron I am seriously thinking about getting a set. At under $600, the Wilson Staff Pi7 iron is something that every low handicap player looking for a little more forgiveness should look at!
